IKM Interactive has been developing
software for virtual environments since 1995; our focus is on the following:
- Interactive environments:
objects react to keystrokes and mouse clicks. The virtual environments
process a stack-based programming language, allowing behaviors to be
arbitrarily complex.
- Cross-Platform Support:
our software is available for x86 Linux, Sun Solaris, and Microsoft
Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME. Earlier versions were also avalable for SGI
Irix, and we are currently working on releases for Apple Macintosh and
a platform games console.
- Multi-User: using
a client/server approach, our software allows multiple users to share
and interact in a virtual environment.
- Distributed Networking:
virtual environments are scalable, with transparent handoff between
servers removing the "portal" based approach found with many
other VR applications.
Our "Axis" software
implements a combined client and server, and is available free of charge.
The current version, 1.31, is a beta release.
