Our ROV, known as the 'Merlin', is a new generation, electric-powered, working ROV. This provides environmental benefits because less oil is consumed. We have also improved its reliability by ensuring that each motor is supplied from topside, which ensures that we can easily carry on should one propeller fail. This means that we and our clients do not have to bring the ROV on deck as often, a big advantage when you are operating at a depth of down to 1,500 metres.
The Merlin ROV has an open structure which is a big advantage for maintenance and when operating in strong ocean currents.
IKM Subsea currently has 15 ROV systems for hire. They have carried out projects all over the world and have a good record of reliability.
