So back to the drawing board. I apologize in advance.
For this year, I'm recording at Secret Base Studios... or the guest bedroom, if you're picky. I'll try to update the web page with photos or whatever as I go. And yes... I won't quit my day job!
Good news.. Swampjaw McLaughlin are a band. Jody is going to make everything sound good. If it sucks, it's his fault!
Two photos of Secret Base studio...
Not the way I want it (and the guitar parts are really mushy), but gotta keep moving...
Jody sent me the bass line and drum track, and I overlayed a bit of (really weak) lead guitar work. Man, I suck.
And of course, more vocal processing so that I sound a bit more like BB King, and a little less like PeeWee Herman.
With and without drums.
And a little YouTube clip...
The good news is that Jody has agreed to help out with the FAWMing, so I'll put in some real drums, bass, and whatever else we can throw together. For this one, though, I sequenced the drums myself. Meg....
There's a FAWM song called Harmony Bus that I really like. So, I did a take on it.... Harmony Bus Leaves on Friday.
No guitars, just the synths and vocals.... Holiday, with the GP5...
You'd never guess that I teach university students. I run into a lot of Slow Learners as part of my day. The GP5 files are here too. Please fix me. The GarageBand sources are available on request!
I've been doing a lot of travis picking in the run up, so stuff like this falls out pretty easy. School is cancelled today, so the kids are running around the house. It's an ice storm. So.... the song is called Ice Storm. Leo Kottke has one with the same name, but his is much better. The MP3 is recorded on my Telecaster, into Garage Band with their acoustic guitar patch, echos turned off. The video is through the Macbook camera and mic, and on an acoustic picked up in Sapporo, Japan, in the middle of winter, appropriately enough. There's also a GP5 version of the song..
Just a short video intro to the studio. Steve_apple_head showed off his, so I figured I should do mine too. Pretty swanky, no?
