The contract is for the drilling rigs Aker Barents and Aker Spitsbergen.
IKM Mechanical Stavanger AS has signed the agreement on behalf of several companies within the IKM Group (IKM Elektro, IKM Maskinering, IKM Mekaniske Kristiansund, IKM Kran & Løfteteknikk, IKM Inspection, IKM Ocean Design and IKM Consultants).
The contract is initially drilling rig Aker Barents and Aker Spitsbergen and can eventually lead to extended delivery for other companies in the IKM group. IKM Mekaniske Stavanger has together with several other IKM companies contributed to the construction and completion of drilling rigs at Aker Stord and will now follow up drilling rigs in operation offshore with general services for operation of the platforms. Department Manager Sigve Norberg is IKM's contract manager and will be responsible for the coordination between Aker Drilling Operations AS and IKM.
The main reason for IKM Mekaniske was preferred was the established relation between Aker Drilling Operation and IKM. IKM can demonstrate good quality of "pilot projects in 2010," which now has lead to an expanded framework contract.
